Tragic Accident on Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway Leaves Six Dead, Four Critically Injured

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 29th June 2024: In a tragic incident on Friday night, six individuals lost their lives, and four others sustained severe injuries in a collision involving a Swift Dzire and Ertiga on Mumbai’s Samruddhi Mahamarg, also known as the Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway.

According to police reports, three of the injured were admitted to Jalna Civil Hospital, while another person was rushed to Ghati Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. The accident occurred near Sawangi in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar when the speeding Swift Dzire was reportedly traveling in the wrong direction, resulting in the fatal collision.

Both vehicles were carrying a total of 10 occupants at the time of the crash, as confirmed by authorities. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), responsible for managing Samruddhi Mahamarg, stated that occupants of the Swift Dzire were found to have consumed alcohol.

Eyewitnesses, including local villagers and staff from a nearby petrol pump at Kadvanchi Channel no. 353/700, reported that the Swift Dzire was heading towards Shirdi before the tragic incident occurred.
