Thane Police File Case Against Man for Circulating Woman’s Private Video

Thane, 27th June 2024: Police in Thane, have filed a case against Kiran Bagrao, a 29-year-old man, for allegedly circulating a private video of a woman after their live-in relationship ended. The complaint was lodged by a 47-year-old woman who was in a relationship with Bagrao from August 2022 to January this year.

According to police reports, during their relationship, Bagrao recorded a video of the woman bathing and also took possession of her gold jewellery. When the woman decided to end the relationship and asked for her ornaments back, Bagrao allegedly refused and threatened her with dire consequences, including death threats. Subsequently, he circulated the private video via WhatsApp.

“The accused issued death threats to the victim when she declined to meet him,” a police official stated.

The case has been registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 406 (criminal breach of trust), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (gesture intended to insult the modesty of a woman). Additionally, provisions of the IT Act have been invoked.

An official from Kapurbawdi police station in the Wagle Estate division mentioned, “The accused and the woman resided together in a live-in relationship from August 2022 to January this year, at locations in Dombivli and Majiwada.”

The investigation into the matter is ongoing as the police continue their efforts to gather more information.
