Thane: Labourer Dies from Electrocution in Dombivli, Contractor Booked

Thane, 1st July 2024: Today, a tragic incident occurred in Dombivli where a 40-year-old labourer lost his life due to electrocution while working on bamboo scaffolding. According to reports, the labourer was atop scaffolding above a shop in Sonarpada, attempting to remove bamboo when he accidentally came into contact with an overhead electric cable. This caused him to lose balance and fall, resulting in fatal injuries. The contractor responsible for the site, along with others involved, has been booked under section 304-A (Causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). As of now, no arrests have been made, confirmed a police official.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Bhiwandi, Thane district, heavy rains led to the collapse of a wall and roof of a room in a chawl, claiming the life of a 35-year-old man named Vimal Vishesar Sah. Originally from Sitamarhi, Bihar, Sah was residing in the Narpoli area. Despite efforts to rescue him, he succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a hospital. The Narpoli police conducted a post-mortem and registered a case of accidental death.

In another unfortunate incident in Mumbai’s Lower Parel area, an 8-year-old girl lost her life and a woman in her 60s sustained injuries after a wall from a commercial unit collapsed onto an adjacent hut. The incident occurred near the Indiabulls complex around 7 pm, resulting in the death of Renuka Anant Kalsekar. Jayshree Pawar, aged 65, who was injured in the incident, is currently receiving treatment at a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities are actively investigating each incident to ascertain the precise causes and determine accountability in these tragic events.
