Primary Suspect in 1996 Robbery Cases Finally Apprehended in Thane

Thane, 26th June 2024: Ramesh Ishwarlal Solanki, a 59-year-old man, was arrested in Thane district after evading the authorities for 28 years on charges of robbery. Solanki was detained on Monday at Penkar Pada, Dahisar Check Naka, as reported by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Madan Ballal. He had been the main suspect in several robbery cases from 1996.

In 1996, multiple complaints were lodged about individuals robbing people at public places and bus stops in the Mira Bhayander area by cutting their bags and slitting their trousers. These incidents were reported to the Kashimira police station. Although two suspects were apprehended at the time, Solanki managed to escape.

Over the years, the police pursued various leads through technical and intelligence inputs. Recently, they received information indicating that Solanki was living in the Malvani area of Malad, Mumbai, and was expected to be at Dahisar Check Naka.

“Acting on this tip, the police set a trap and captured Solanki when he arrived at the location on Monday,” an official reported.

During the interrogation, it was discovered that Solanki had numerous other cases registered against him in both Mumbai and Gujarat. The investigation into Solanki’s activities over the past 28 years continues.
